Our Policies & Safeguarding
Cheerful Tutoring Ltd, All our drivers are professional and fully licensed by Transport For London (TFL). A policy for safeguarding disabled children to and from school is crucial to ensure their safety, well-being, and equal access to education. Such a policy should address the unique needs and challenges faced by disabled children and provide a comprehensive framework for protecting them during their journeys to and from school.
Safeguarding
Inclusive Approach
Ensure that the policy is inclusive and accounts for the diverse range of disabilities, including physical, sensory, cognitive, and intellectual disabilities. The policy should be sensitive to individual needs and take into account the specific challenges each disabled child may face.
Risk Assessment
Conduct a thorough risk assessment of the routes disabled children take to school. Identify potential hazards, such as road crossings, uneven sidewalks, and traffic congestion, and take steps to mitigate these risks. Make sure that the travel routes are safe and accessible.
Personalized Support
Provide individualized support for disabled children based on their needs. This could involve assigning support staff, like special education assistants or mobility aides, to accompany children during their commute. Ensure that these staff members are trained in disability awareness and emergency procedures.
Communication
Establish clear lines of communication between parents/guardians, school staff, transportation providers, and any external organizations involved in the child’s transportation. Regularly share relevant information about the child’s needs, preferences, and any medical considerations.
Transportation Arrangements
Work closely with transportation providers to ensure that vehicles are equipped with necessary accommodations, such as ramps, lifts, secure seating, and appropriate restraints. Regular maintenance and safety checks of vehicles should be conducted.

Enhanced CRB check for drivers and anyone in contact with vulnerable children
Cheerful Tutoring Ltd policy therefore covers the responsibility of PHV operators for ensuring that their drivers are fit and proper persons. One of our key provisional proposals is to promote equality and accessibility that private hire drivers should be required to undergo recognised disability awareness training Lack of such training means that some drivers may be less likely to be aware of the needs and rights of disabled passengers; this can contribute to unacceptable practices, for example ignoring their attempts to hail a vehicle, carrying them in an unsafe manner, refusing to carry them at all or charging extra for the service. Our training empowers our drivers to address the problem of drivers ignoring disabled passengers. We have a complaints procedures more accessible can also be particularly valuable to empower disabled users.
Anti-Slavery Policy
Cheerful Tutoring Ltd has responsibilities towards their drivers and should ensure that they are not working excessive hours.
Monitoring Complaints
Cheerful Tutoring Ltd has a robust system for recording complaints, including analysing trends across the whole system as well as complaints against individual drivers. Complaints about drivers should be taken seriously and drivers with a number of complaints made against them should be contacted by the council and concerns rose with the driver. Further action must be determined by CHEERFUL TUTORING LTD which could include the offer of training, informing the police and the council.
